The blog includes the following characteristics:
SAT preparatory flash cards - students are encouraged to log-onto the blog daily and review at least 5-10 words throughout the school year.
Homework is posted daily - students who are absent can check their homework assignments and continue to be updated with the coursework.
Informative postings - these postings are basically "virtual handouts" and remind students of key concepts that are discussed within class. For instance, one posting includes more examples of MLA documented sources/parenthetical citations. I also provided websites for students to also use related to this subject.
Postings also include articles related to classroom lessons and literary research articles - one posting includes a literary article on Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God, which students read and commented on for homework.
Please scroll through the various postings that I have uploaded throughout the year. Some postings still have actual students discussions, and they are a treat to read! Overall, I have received positive feedback from my students related to the blog. They feel that the assignments are clear and the blog helps them stay on-task. Participation on the blog is also counted like classroom participation, and this helps quiet students express themselves outside of the classroom.
